Like, every eyeshadow palette ever comes with a black shadow. Most do, anyway. And as crazy as this sounds, all of mine are different. All of my black shadows are different formulas, feels, and finishes and I’ve decided to go ahead and swatch them all and talk about them!Continue Reading
For the longest time, I have sworn off pigments. It’s the sole reason I have never purchased indie shadows. I always joked that I just don’t have time to mess with pigments like that. Too much effort. Boy, was I wrong. For what I’m using it for–which is either a sparkly lid color or accent–it is just fine. After working with this pigment for a few weeks, it is neither faster nor slower than a regular old eyeshadow.
This has been the summer of refining my taste and learning what kinds of products better tailor to my needs, and apparently pigments are a part of those needs.
As someone who went from needing to buy something immediately after hearing about it to someone who now greatly researches a product before buying it, I now have the opportunity to wait for sales and deals. By following @nouveaucheap, I got a great deal on this pigment during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. They sent out $10 rewards to all rewards members, so I cashed that bad boy in to get this MAC pigment in the travel size of Kitschmas!
I was so skeptical at first, but after swatching it everything was okay again. I had never before seen shimmer that vibrant once compared to my regular old pink eye shadows.Continue Reading
Ah, the Venus palette. It’s the reason I became a makeup collector (read about that here). This was my white whale for the longest time. I set up an imaginary barrier and told myself it was impossible to ever get my grubby little hands on this palette. But here I am, with my grubby little hands all over this palette–and it’s older sister–the Venus 2.
After all of the hype that was surrounding this palette, all the lusting, and obsessing from afar I bet you are wondering if it was worth it. It was, oh it was. This is hands down the best quality eyeshadow that I own. I’m going to run down with you why they rock. So, spoiler alert: these are a 10/10 in my books.Continue Reading
Let me give you a little back story on my love for the Venus palette and the importance of this company to me.
About a two years ago, I realized that makeup was a ‘thing’. I quickly tried to build up a collection and fine tune my skills. I fell down the black hole of Pinterest and quickly learned about some common brands and this little thing called contouring (which you can actually read about here, I’ve already ranted about my discovering of makeup and hype).
Big fan. I moved onto cool eyeshadows and spotted the Venus Palette by Lime Crime. I actually learned about it on the day it launched because at the time I just learning about Cashmere, the be all end all to liquid lipsticks at the time. After the original Venus palette launched, it was sold out for pretty much that entire year after that. This was also the time of ‘the breach,’ and it was now viewed as shameful to even think about liking Lime Crime. Gurus and bloggers alike were putting up their anti-Lime Crime posts and pictures.Continue Reading
